Why are Coastal Birds Important to Me?

Do you enjoy fishing, boating, and playing on the beach?  Well, then birds are important to you!   Birds are an indication that our environment is healthy, and they are an integral part of a fully functioning ecosystem.  Their sounds and presence along the Gulf is all part of the collective experience.  Just as we humans are losing our beaches and islands to erosion, decreased land elevation, storms and hurricanes, and now an increase in sea level, the birds are also losing places to nest and raise their young.  These challenges coupled with recovering from the BP Deepwater Horizon Spill are difficult at best for birds, but we can help!
